Review: Hilton Bali Resort

The Hilton Bali Resort is a 5-star resort in Bali, Indonesia. The building is perched atop a 40-meter cliff and offers wonderful views over the Indian Ocean. For years the Conrad Bali was the only luxury resort in Bali that Hilton offered. However, the Hilton Bali Resort opened a couple of years ago and is located in Kuta, Selatan, about 20 minutes away from the airport by car. The resort was formerly known as the Grand Nikko Hotel. Hilton took over the property in 2017 and has re-branded it has Hilton Bali Resort. I have heard great stories about the Hilton Bali Resort so that’s why I decided to stay here during my trip to Bali about one year ago.

Check-in

One of the beautiful parts of this resort is its affordable price-point. It is not difficult to find rooms for under $ 130 USD per night here. The resort is also an interesting option for redeeming Hilton points as one night costs just 25,000 points. After a 20 minutes drive from the airport, I entered the lobby which is located on the 15th floor. The hotel lobby is beautifully designed and has comfortable seating areas with open walls.

Apart from 389 rooms and suites, the resort also has 19 private villas. After I took a seat, I was told that I got an upgrade to a King Deluxe Room with ocean view. Then I received my key card and one of the staff members accompanied me to my room which was located on the fifth floor. While walking to my room, I still could see the traditional Japanese design influences of the former hotel brand.

My King Deluxe Room with ocean view featured a king size bed, sitting area and balcony. I definitely liked the decoration with clean colors and warm ambient lighting. Reading lights can be found on each side of the bed. In front of the bed, there is a television and furniture. However, there is no proper desk in the room to work on. Although the balcony is nothing special, the ocean view is stunning. This is a natural forest setting so keep all your doors and windows closed at night to prevent monkeys and other unwelcome guest in your room.

On the left side of the television, I found a minibar that was filled with beverages and some snacks. Other room amenities included an iron/board, slippers, bathrobes, 2 bottles of water and an in-room safe. Waiting on the table was a bowl of fresh fruit.

Bathroom

The marble bathroom was very elegant and specious and featured a bathtub, toilet, and a walk-in shower room which offers both a hand held shower head and rain shower. On the sink, I found almost every possible amenity needed for a comfortable stay. The window between the bathroom and the rest of the room makes it possible to watch tv from the bathtub.

Executive Lounge

The Executive Lounge is located on the second floor and is only accessible for Diamond members. As a Gold member, I didn’t have access to the lounge but was still able to make some photos after asking. It is a perfect place to get away from all the other hotel guests. The lounge is open every day and is divided into an indoor and outdoor area. Besides afternoon tea, the buffet offers hot evening snacks every day. Outside, there is a private pool with lounge chars and even cabanas with wonderful views over the resort.

Hilton Bali Resort Pool Area

The pool area is one of my favorite places at the resort. There are a total of 4 swimming pools, a water slide, a sand lagoon and 3 tennis courts. The resort has direct access to the beach. Some of the hotel rooms even have direct access to the pool. There is also an outdoor jacuzzi, as well as in indoor jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Personally, I really enjoyed the view over the beach from the bar. On the other side of the pool, the area is nicely decorated with tropical gardens.

Restaurants

The Hilton Bali Resort has a total of 6 restaurants and one of them offers fantastic views over the beach. I experienced an excellent service here but I was not impressed by the food to be honest. Don’t get me wrong but this is something the resort can work on. Although not all wines were available, the wine I got was excellent as well as the dessert.

Breakfast

The breakfast is served in the main restaurant on the 15th floor. The buffet looks quite impressive. You can find a variety of both Asian and traditional food here. Also fresh fruits and juices are served every morning. It is not the best breakfast buffet I have seen so far. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed.

Other facilities

The Hilton Bali resort offers all the facilities you should expect in a 5-star resort. Apart from all the facilities around the pool, the resort also offers spa facilities like massage. There is also a kids club and fitness center which is located on the ground floor. The fitness center is simple but offers enough equipment to keep you fit during vacation. Apart from an outdoor shopping area with complimentary shuttle, there isn’t much to do in the area of the resort.

Hilton Bali Resort Bottom Line

I definitely enjoyed my stay at the Hilton Bali Resort. I especially enjoyed the way how the hotel is set up with nice pools and the proximity to the beach. The resort has comfortable rooms that offer all the things you need for a good stay here. I experienced a great service in the restaurants with nice views over the beach. The staff is extremely friendly and I never had to wait for something. However, some improvements on the food can be made. Although I didn’t have access to the executive lounge, I still could see that Diamond members have an excellent time here. The lounge offers great facilities like a pool with cabanas with stunning views over the resort.

While the resort is located about 20 minutes from the airport, there isn’t much to do in the area round the resort. However, with 4 swimming pools, 3 tennis courts, a spa and much more, the resort itself offers plenty of activities for a great time. Overall, I can recommend the Hilton Bali Resort, especially because of its affordable price-point. Also rates per night are under $ 130 almost all the time and you get a lot of value from it. Remember that the Hilton Bali Resort can be book on points very affordably. Also read my review of the Conrad Bali where I stayed about one year later.
